Benromach Cara Gold - Malted Barley Speyside Single Malt (2022 Bottled) Bourbon Cask Matured 46% abv

Benromach has a delicately smoky style and its origins are from the Speyside region before the 1960s. Its four distillers alone orchestrate every second of the distillation process using quality ingredients that are 100% Scottish. Each barrel is filled, weighed and stamped by hand and is meant to age for many years in their traditional cellars. Illustrating the tradition and modernity brilliantly, Benromach stands out for its unique aging and dynamic image.

For the first time, the Benromach distillery used Cara Gold malted barley, a lightly roasted malt that is more commonly found in breweries, bringing fruity and caramel notes. This fruity malt, blended with the slightly peated malt traditionally used by the distillery, creates a unique expression with rich aromas while respecting Benromach’s subtly smoky identity. Bottled in 2022, this non-colored and non-chill filtered expression has aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, bringing aromas of passion fruit, lychee, and lime, complemented by a hint of malty biscuit. Sweet notes of pineapple, apricot and pepper complete the aromatic palette leading to a vibrant and subtle smoky finish.
